Tinkisso Guinea lapradei

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
awesome polys man

Got any full tank shots ?

It's the darkest lapradei. There's no longer dark patterns, it's now white stripes instead. :D The lapradei is really an interesting bichir speices. There are varieties of pattern style from different locals, though, their genes are nearly the same. Btw, where's your koliba.....

Very nice pattering and finnage. A prime specimen!

If you keep that fish over dark or reddish-brown substrate the colors will change dramatically. You will be able to see the stripes and bands better.

thanks CDM! yeah its base color and patterns are very similar in color, at least with my substrate, which actually looks quite nice. And i couldn't agree more, lapradei is really very interesting, so many varieties...if only they grow faster :D

I was gonna post the Koliba later, but since you asked, here they are :) in a different tank. btw first two pics are of the same individual, and the other lap in the first pic is a regular Guinea lap (this one happens to have light contrast on my substrate, but its got some high dorsal finlets that look very cool when it fully raises them).

thanks toyin! yeah i think it would change too. eventually it'll be moved to a tank with the substrate similar to that in the tank below with the Koliba. I'm not sure if that'll be dark enough, but that's ok, as i think even now it looks cool :D

Wow, that Guinea got really nice contrast. Give the Koliba sometime, it'll gain nice contast as well. Mine is not in stable form yet (I mean color), but, once a while it showed nice contrast.
