Tiny fish with monsters?

When aros get large they tend to leave tiny, neons and cardinals alone, but not anything too much larger.

I respectfully disagree. In my case, my green aro sometimes makes an attempt to eat even my loaches(though with the blades under their eyes, the aro fails). I had to feed him feeder fish just to keep him away from my loaches(clowns and yoyos).
Reason why the loaches are not in my community tank is they can damage my plants quite well.

When you say 'not anything too much larger', how big were you saying the aro should not be kept? Even as a juvenile of about 3 inches, aros will begin to hunt down even your tetras as they mature. There's no way you can keep tetras with aros.

Only large aros, 24" + can be kept with these, they no longer see them as food is my guess. If you are thinking of a 18" aro, they will will hunt the neons, and cardinals. By not much larger I mean, even a serpae is WAY to big. Juvenille aros, up to 16" will hunt very small fish, because that is what fits in their mouth. When an aro is 36", a 1.5" neon really isn't worth the effort, unless it is starving.

del you got a lucky case there In my pond I got some waterlettuce from a friends outdoor pond and little did I know that there was goldfish eggs on the plants well about a month later I starterd to notice some fry about 3/4" long there was a ton of them and as they started to grow the less of them there were they just got picked off completely and del I am still working on comingdown to see ya its a big trip to talk about

Yes, it can be done, but i suppose some of it is down to individuals. I have seen time and time again red belly piranhas being kept with small live bearing fish such as mollies in a big well planted tank, and it all looks great. I guess if the odd one or two get prayed upon, they are easily replenished too as prolific breeders.

People shouldn't go by rare cases, but by what normally happens most of the time.

Sure, you could get lucky but there is a far greater chance that you will not.

Howdy,

You could try to keep livebearers with your monsters. If everything works out, they reproduce at the same rate that adults are getting eaten. Many zoos use guppies in piranha tanks.
