Reason why the loaches are not in my community tank is they can damage my plants quite well.
When you say 'not anything too much larger', how big were you saying the aro should not be kept? Even as a juvenile of about 3 inches, aros will begin to hunt down even your tetras as they mature. There's no way you can keep tetras with aros.
