Its like when you see a pic of 12 aros in a small tank. Put the fish in, take the picture, and remove the fish back into their own tanks.

That was clearly not the case in this vid, the aro was actually jumping for a worm and the tiger barbs were all swimming around the aro. The aro didn't treat the tiger barbs as food at all, just ignored them.

Delgado, didn't your FH maim your tig?

If the small fish is too fast for the bigger fish to catch, then it may not be an issue.

But, I wouldn't do it, hey he can try and report back after a few months.
I agree. Claim that the small fish weren't eaten by large species but this might be only for a short time. Well, not all people will readily admit that they were wrong.

Use your common sense. Small fish will still be eaten by large fish no matter how large your tank is. It's plainly wrong to mix large and small fish.
I will point out that the reasons why you can't just mix them.

1. Small fish are likely stressed by the presence of large ones because they feel insecured. In the wild, you can see why small fish tend to shoal whenever they feel the presence of predators or large fish. A predator alone can already intimidate smaller species. Shoaling may be a good defense mechanism but in the tank, they hardly can escape predation even as a shoal.
2. Fish are unpredictable. You cannot predict what happens next with large predators mixed with small fish.
3. If your fish gets hungry, it won't avoid the temptation of eating even its small tankmates. Even well-fed ones will make an attempt if given the chance.

Why mix tetras and barbs with arowanas? It's just plainly wrong as I had mentioned.:(

Every instance of large aro/neon or cardinal tetra combinations I have heard of success. It really isn't that rare. I have seen it in person several times, and they were said to have coexisted for at least 1 year at the shortest for the ones I had seen.
For only a year? That proves what I had reiterated. If it was for a lifetime, then I would be surprised.

At least a year, meaning at the time they had been together for more than a year, and they are still alive. Please take time to read posts fully.

So answer me this, since the following pics show no presence of "Tiny fish (cardinals, etc.) Are you posting them to show that your Aro devoured them, or is it your beleif that your loaches, etc. are tiny fish.

to me it seems that your ego often gets in the way of your intellegence:nutkick: , so with that maybe you should kiss your own ass.

People, keep it civil.
It is possible to have different opinions without name calling or insults.

I have not yet kept tiny tetras with very large fish yet but I think that a large black aro in a tank full of tiny, living jewels would be sweet, so I really hope it is workable.

i wouldnt risk it, aros are predatory enough to eat the fish. heck my goldfish is predatory enough to eat my zebra danios lol

Zebra danios are pretty fast. Do what you want to do, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. All you have to do is try. Put the big fish in last of course and make sure it isn't a bare tank.
