Three of the original five are healthy and lively. The pup bitten by an adult perished.

Looking good! They are about the same size as my recent pups and they even look alike (apart from 5 out of 6 of mine having a small part missing in their disk in front of their mouths). Have you tried feeding them live black worms? Mine really loved them until I switched them to blood worms and market shrimp (and occasionally minced up market prawn).
How big is your swimming pool/pond that I see in the last pic? I'd love to do that in my basement if I had room.
