If there is a good thread for this (couldn't find one), point it out to me, please. If not, please answer a couple questions for me.

I am getting a 2-3" jur on tuesday (my first one) and I want to make sure it grows up to be a monster. What is the ideal situation for a small one like that? I have a 20g set up for a baby black arowana that I was going to keep just the aro in since they're so sensitive at the size it will be when I get it, but I'm not sure if it would be better in there than my other tank.

The 20 gallon is divided in two w/ one section having an in-tank filter and 2 heaters (one back-up), temp is about 84F. The pH is about 7 and there is a piece of driftwood in there. There will be practically no current in the other side to help the aro out. The other tank is a 40 breeder w/ a penguin 350 and AC70. there are about a dozen fish in there (polys, loaches, barbs and tetras) w/ the max being about 4" (1 senegal bichir and 1 roseline "shark"). Which tank should i put it in? I am leaning towards the 20 since the 40 has a couple fish w/ ick, but once that clears up, should I put it in the 40?

Any other tips?
Thanks a bunch.

wow, that's good growth...should work out great

I know they like a lot of current as adults, but didn't know they liked that much at a small size. I guess having it in w/ the aro is out since they don't like current at that size, but it would probably be okay in the section that is divided off since there will be good current in there. hopefully, i can get it off of live quickly.

anyone else with tips? i should be getting this fish tomorrow

Get it they are beautiful fish and as they grow seem to develop a lot of personality. I have one I listed on ebay to sell. It was fed rosy reds and then graduated to minnows. Now it's about 9" long and I need to sell it unfortunately. Need to make room for my baby oscars. I would put the Juruense in the other half of that 20g tank for now as it probably won't take it long to be able to eat some of those fish you have in the other tank.

Thanks. I was pretty sure the ich would be gone by now, but it's still in there, so I have no other choice...it has to go in the 20. After it grows up a little, I will put it in a 55 I have set up w/ (3) 5" fish and then into my 210.

Now, I just have to decide where to put my 2" IT that's currently in the 20. It should be ok w/ the jur for a little while, right?

Just got the fish in it's semi-permanent home. It is in 1/2 of the 20g w/ a 2" IT and the other half has two baby black aros. It looks REALLY nice and its streamer is longer than as its body. It is very active and has even made my IT active, who just hid all the time. What should I put in for decor, if anything?
