tips for a baby juruense, please

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
there was no ich in the tank when I put it in there. I am now treating both tanks. I upped the temp in the 40 and put some salt in. The other one has salt and it about 84F.

When it comes to ich it's always better to treat the whole tank as it can bounce around in there forever if you let it, some fish more susceptible to it than others so you just might not notice that it's there till it shows up on certian types of fish

Ich is always present in the tank, it 'rests' as spores in the substrate. So as the others have said, treat the tank with the ich, because the fish will get it in that tank as soon as they become stressed.

Great looking little monster; I found my tigs loved mysis shrimp and went nuts as soon as they were in the tank (because they're so oily the scent was quickly spread throughout the tank). I can't believe how long his streamers are on his tail!

It just surprises me because I've had the tank for only a month and the sand and driftwood is new as of a couple weeks ago. Only one of the filters and the heater are from another tank, which no one ever got ich in.

The jur actually ate some tilapia again even with all the ich (hasn't eaten in a few days), so that's a good sign.

heyy, i just got a baby juruense too!
i actually got it today and have it with baby silvers in a 20g long, have a pile of blackworms in there and all it does is keep swimming with its mouth open i think? he doesnt seem to be eating and is think.
what are you guys feeding yours to make it eat at such a small size besides rosies and blackworms. i read the posts above about tilapia but i dont think it'll fit in its mouth

it's about 3-4".
funny thing is, that are these cats supposed to swim in the mid section all the time? mine constantly keeps swimming in the mid range of the tank keeps opening and closing its mouth while swimming. it won't even try and eat the black worms i threw it. also it doesn't swim straight, it's head is always higher than its tail while swimming. have you experienced this? i'm worried cuz this guy looks very thin.

mine acts like that a lot, too.

looks like my black lancer is hosed :irked:
I ended up getting some quick cure as was recommended for emergencies for my clown loaches as it's pretty bad.
