Had mine 7 months... Eats night crawlers and tilapia.. To be honest I don't feed him as much as he wants cuz I have a fire eel that I got 2 months ago that is way smaller. But anyhow he was 4" and is now over 20" and fat! He grew slow at first and then I got him on earthworms and he exploded.
