Whether or not everyone has an equal opportunity is also subjective - the African villager who has to put his 9 year old to work just to scrape up enough food for dinner might disagree with you - and I'm going to bet that someone along those lines was the type of person that killed whatever venomous/dangerous animal the OP was posting about.

It's still beyond me how anyone can even argue for a deadly animal living among humans - while relocation is a great way of handling things, it's not always economically possible.

I'm willing to bet that everyone on here would have no problems killing all of the non-native species in the Everglades rather than trying to relocate them if it meant losing their house in exchange for the cost of such a plan.

You still didn't give me an example of where you're coming from, as in what show you saw that made you post this - but thanks for the insults.

Anyone who thinks some animal that has been imported from another continent is more important than a person's life needs a serious attitude adjustment.

A lot of you are obviously still young, and it shows in both your posts and your opinions on things. While I can understand the value of animals, habitat's, and a living creatures right to live and let live - I do not condone letting deadly animals roam around a neighborhood just because it's "unfair" to kill it. Let alone destroy an entire habitat and/or species of another animal because it got released into the wrong place.

agreed, human life is most important. you can get a new dog, but you can't get a new mom. and you cant get that two year old back for his mom. owning dangers pets is dumb and the human's fault if they get hurt by it, but killing an animal that is trying to kill you is fair and i hope the human lives through their stupid "i wanna pet the baby bear moment" so they can tell their kids neeeeever to pet a baby bear.

all i was saying is that humans are born with the ability to reason..... whether they make good decisions or are skilled at reasoning is another thread completely ....... but even the worst humans at reasoning still have more ability to judge things than an animal overall. and please, by no means am i disagreeing with you that other countries definitely do not have the same "level playing field" that many of us in more "prosperous" countries have. just saying that their are mental factors that separate humans from animals.....

Honestly, I think there should be special licensing permits both to sell and own animals that get large enough to see humans as a prey item - at any size.

i totally agree with you.... and there is to an extent certain permitting. but its so willy nilly. enforcement is in essence non-existent. education is the best defense to ignorance though

I think this conversation is covering a HUGE range of perspectives which is allowing much of the differences of opinions to persist… for instance, what happened in the show that sparked this whole conversation?….

I can agree that human life holds precedence over animal life…

But I also feel human ignorance should be held accountable… If I put a dangerous animal in your path and it harms you… I should be held accountable for harming you…

I also highly agree with licensing and permitting large/dangerous animals and financing the program with massive fines for not getting the inexpensive permits/licenses… The cost of the permit/license should be verifying education on the animals care and proving the resources to maintain it (verified yearly)…

One point that has been made here a few times… concerning a dangerous animal in a neighborhood… when people expand their territory into previously undeveloped areas… we are the dangerous animal in another species neighborhood…

As for the “invasive species… keep in mind the Pythons didn’t “invade” the everglades… they were kidnapped, transported and abandoned there…

I think all in all the human race is to selfish for it’s own good… much less the good of the planet… and by far the good of other species…

i dont get why people are saying that humans are soooooo much more important than animals. of course we have to prosper, and if there is a dangerous animal on the loose, it cant be removed safely via tranquilizer, etc. but has to be killed....
if someone gets mauled by their own pet its because of their own stupidity....
i guess what im trying to say is that even though people consider themselves more important than animals, everything was going great before people got here, and no one can complain when someone knowingly goes surfing in waters that they know have sharks, or when someone moves to a house by a lake down south and doesnt expect to have gators in their backyard, or when someone tries to keep a chimp, and, despite all the stories of chimps nearly killing their owners, they think theirs will be different and do them no harm.
lots of people are too ignorant..........................................
