TITAN AQUATICS 374g (externail) build 96"x30"x30"

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have to say its looking pretty awesome... i wish i had the space to put up a 300+ gallon tank...

The smaller grains have never been an issue outside of when my hoga flips out and stirs up a massive amount but doesnt cloud the water and settles. My fish love to move the stuff around like crazy.

Man I wish I had put like a black sheet on top of the foam. Maybe I can lift one end at a time and slide one on 1/2 at a time.

Here's my 180 with that same sand:

This tank only has two 10 watt LEDs. I wanted a darker look.

Yeah I have seen that tank before...looks amazing!

Thanks. I'm glad I was able to squeeze it in...and I mean squeeze. It pushes my table out almost too far. The 240 really "fit" better in the spot but I don't mind lol.

^ hahahaha, who needs a table anyway, they are sooool over rated :)

I agree ill eat at the bar. When the tank went in the wife was like...so is this where my table is going to be? She felt a little un easy about the big ol tank there...I convinced her that she had just gotten used to not seeing anything there after the 240 was taken down and now that its there its making her feel off and it will go away. It is partly true...but its also a good 8" or so out more from the wall than before.

In time once its setup im sure she'll love it, my gf thought i was nuts too when i said i wanted a 200G (considering real-estate at the price it is) but now she loves the tank, although im sure having a fahaka helps ;)

So tonight was kinda a flop. I backed out of trying to put a black sheet between the tank and the foam. I think the only way to safely do it is take the tank off the stand and that's pretty involved. Might just get more sand to make it thick so they don't move it out the way too much and expose the white foam.

Then I tried to drill some tile to mount to the wood. Turns out I bought porsalin tile. Not sure if that's harder than ceramic but afyer trying for 30-45 min with water and a masonry bit all I did was manage to brake two tiles. I'm going get some slate tiles....softer right?

I got some of the pond style flex hose with the spiral rib. Not sure if I will be able to clamp down enough to stop leaks but its the best non kink stuff I could come up with at the moment. If it don't leak it will be perfect.

What would you do to make the tank bottom black? Lift and put a black bed sheet between foam and tank...black background stuff from lfs...something else?

What about the lfs black background just in the tank under the sand?

What I'm trying to accomplish is when the big cichlids move the sand out the way the white wont beam through driving me buggy.

First, beautiful set up! Im sure it's gonna be amazing. Cant wait to see it. Id put a piece of black craft paper on the underside of the tank. But I do have a question, will the lighting induce algae growth? Asking because Id like to light up my 150g tall in a similar manner.

Black craft paper definitely NO. No to the bedsheet also. Place the tank on its side and paint the bottom of the tank on the outside. The foam we used under our 300 gallon tank was a nasty pink color. Since we were going with a bare floor tank, the pink was unacceptable. We put white material over the pink foam. The stuff wicks water under the tank. There are a lot of areas under the tank where water has wicked in and dried. If you have any minerals in your water, you will end up with dry white areas under your tank....unless your fish are so small that there is never any water dripping down the front or sides of your tank, and you are so careful that no water ever touches the outside surfaces of your tank during a water change.
