TITAN AQUATICS 374g (externail) build 96"x30"x30"

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I was thinking of using latex paint or plasti dip rubber paint. I tried the idea of taping vinyl background paper underneath. It works for what I want but black is too dark. I am going to switch to blue.

Agreed about the sheet sopping up water. These fish like to splash. I think I'll just have to take the take off lay on its back and put some vinyl on the bottom. I found some 30" wide...really don't want to but...I should.

First, beautiful set up! Im sure it's gonna be amazing. Cant wait to see it. Id put a piece of black craft paper on the underside of the tank. But I do have a question, will the lighting induce algae growth? Asking because Id like to light up my 150g tall in a similar manner.

I don't know about algae growth just yet. When I had them in a 125 for a bit I didn't see anything out of the norm.

Not much different than any other bright lights... If you run them too long, you'll see more algae.

I think one of the most common aquascaping "mistakes" out there (and I use that loosely because everyone has their own tastes, so in the end do what looks good to you) is that people don't use enough substrate. A lot of the show tanks you see actually have several inches more sand near the back of the tank to create a sloping depth effect. Look at any Amano tank and they all have like 6" of substrate in the back.

So as it turns out the tile I got is porcalin and as it turns out its much harder and denser than ceramic. Maybe that's why I could not get through it.

I'm going to order 8' of this tomorrow for the bottom.

Not sure if ill mess with the bottom. I keep going back and forth. What would y'all do? Maybe ill have enough sand that it won't be an issue? I could have it up and running this week if I leave it.

Mean while success on drilling the same tile. I got the right kind of bit and it went through in a couple min.

Used a bigger masonry bit to help flush the screw.

You should have enough sand man. Like i said you have one more bag worth at least (maybe two actually) than i have in my 240 with the same footprint. I may have only used 2 bags when doing my 240, but I am not sure. If you dont let me know and ill send some out to you and make that tank right the way you want it. I still have some left over so like i said just let me know and ill have my people get on that :) With big central and south americans they are gonna dig all day long and move a lot of sand so if it were me i would roll the tank and give the bottom a paint job. Did the bottom of my 75,and my hoga digs all day and doesnt look bad when the bottom shows cause then your just seeing the black paint. Glad i could play a part in this beautiful tank.
