Mate, i keep thinking about your silver actually (and CKs) ... these are huge - granted but 4' foot RTC beast CAN have a go at them anytime - don't forget ancient fish (especially the ones you got) are very foldable...

Anyway, you got space in the pond, so hope that your monster silver is on the costant look out for RTC :D
yeh i can understand wat ure saying. i guess the trick has been to keep my RTCs really really full. they barely move half the time and are definitely the most docile out of all my fish...i think the only reason he ate the pleco was because it was in a small enclosed space where there was no space to run or hide (temp tanks). so far no real incidents in the pond for 3 years so shud be all guud! the other fish r just growing larger.

IC, the pleco was eaten in transit - definitely no surprise there. In the big set-up there is less chance.

Hmmm, your RTCs are inactive? Mines are close or at 80cm but they are quite hyper as in as far as swiming up and down the glass ... does not matter if they are empty or full. They swim around each other in circles (notice that all my pics shows RTCs together back to back) One of them is murderous in particular (the one with missing whiskers).

I had pleco with them before did not work out well for neither gar nor RTC ... i really would like a clean-up crew for them

yehhh ure RTCs are awesome..i always see them in swimming mode...very active and HUNGRY indeed...they have claimed quite a few of ure tankmates :s. my RTCs are only nonstop swimmers at night but in the day they sleep like theres no tomorow!

Hmmm my last update was two weeks ago http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=181786&page=2

hmmm, i guess i will post some more when i return home for long weekend to pick-up my precious (literally) cargo from Sing for my new black tinted beauty :naughty:

Yes, the largest paima is almost the size of the largest gar (girth and length).RTC could not eat them even if it tried - can kill but not eat. The growth is quite stupendous.... the other two are close behind... they are gonna slow down until April (unless we have a warm winter) ... they eat less during cooler weather. The smaller ones do not color up :irked::irked::irked: much to my chagrin. The one with broken back is totally ok now. the second one is still visible.

I did mention that paimas are big wimps when it comes to eating oversized things but they are quick to home on shrimp and Hikari. My LFS told me that his paima choked and died on a snakehead feeder :eek::eek: i am not feeding snakeheads no more :grinno:

PS: paimas are quite phycotic when they attack pellets - lots of water splash EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW:irked:
