i never had any problems teaching them to eat dead food. they take quite readily to deshelled market prawn - mine eat chopped fish as well. and hikari pellets ... errr only hikari floating

in fact, LFS feed them shrimp (freshwater small ones).

dont worry no difficulty breaking them - they dont mind
thats a relief...but im actually looking more for wallago...i just feel like they are more manageable in a pond of my size...Paimas grow wayyyy faster....and also they tend to jump more and are so skittish...not sure if i wana put myself thru that stress again...hmmm lol

:grinyes::clapSOOOOOOOOOOOOOO !!!! nice must be very relaxing in that back yard Beautiful WOW!!

Yeah, wallago would be a great addition to your pond (don't know about temperament though - they look quite agro for sure)... a mix between knife fish+cat ... lots of teeth for sure... and gets huge. no need to grow out. i think these are native in malaysia no?

you may want to try ARTC as well. available in malaysia too no?

yes they are native to malaysia rivers but ull be surprised how hard it is for me to find them! i tried to order them but no one seems to have it...i also need to check if they are a protected species...i dont wana get into any legal problems...

as for their aggression i shud just try and feed them dead food so they dont have the killer instinct..we'll see :)

As for ARTC...i dont rea;ly have any real connection to them...i havent actually seen any in real life tbh...

try check with the LFS along the back road towards Subang Bestari where theres alot of nurseries. they used to have Juvenile TAPAH(leeri or Wallago) around 10inch Rm80. if they dont have any u can always ask them to order a few.

or

Check the LFS behind ZOO Negara. They always have exotic stocks. They used to have huge ABA ABA.

Went there 2 weeks, they huge dozens of TOMAN around 3footer selling at RM200 each.

I reckon u should get a huge Channa Maruloides in your pond, get the bright yellow ones, they are gorgeus from the top view. like KOI's!haha

cheers.

Isn't there a risk that Channa would runaway from the pond? I mean they are natives and all that but still. Wow 3' ones? would be impressive looking.

Still suggest getting ARTC ... they are farmed in Thailand actually. very cute when small. Get very large (huge?) .... have long whiskers like marble pim

I tried raising them but RTCs did not like my wild caught ARTC
