To Dovii, or not to Dovii

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Its in his room (hes the president) so when there are people he doesnt know or from other frats coming over he will just lock the room up. Well I think we are going to jump on the dovii, their are 3 over at this petstore in a 10 gallon for 7.99 and one ahs the other two up on top of the tank while he chills in the little decoration. And in 8months or so when he gets too big well bring him in to a lfs or ill post him up on here for all you guys to get dibs on, and then well try a midas/red devil.

Jags dissapoint me, I have a 12" and a 5" in my 240 COMMUNITY Cichlid tank and they dont do anything to any of the other peacful cichlids.
Buttikoferi- are aggressive towards other fish, but i do not c them being tankbangers
Puffers are great but for a tankbanger like a Fahaka/mbuna or something would be more than the tank we are buying.

Keep in mind you won't see the kind of aggression you're talking about in a dovii until he outgrows that tank or is damn close. Bad idea IMO. Butti's get too big anyways.. I know of one somewhere that must be 16" at least.. Flowerhorns get too big because of trimac blood in there they can get 18".

Plans to simply get rid of a fish when it gets too big are the worst plans of all. Worse than someone planning on upgrading. Because in time the lfs might not want him back(big fish takes up more space and harder to move) and might be no one in your area that wants them.

Honestly tell him to get grammodes.. mini-dovii's.. Don't forget to tell your buddy that having a fish tank means weekly water changes.

fish in frat house seems like a bad idea... :(
beers, loud music and parties might stress out even the most aggressive of fish.
tell him to get a flowerhorn... those are colorful, mean as heck at a small size.

We had a full grown Red devil at college in a 55 and he has had beer in his tank a few times(some on accident) but he was a big hit because he was highly aggressive. But I felt bad for him having to live in that condiditon so I brought him back home.

A frat house is definetly not the place to have a fish tank from experience unless its in someone bedroom where drunk people arent going to see it.

Not to Dovii, this is the answer.

I couldn't agree more.

Why not invest in the escondido flavour of H. carpinte?
They are more suited to that sized aquarium and have potential of becoming real glassbangers.

I don't like posting other peoples links. But if it'll help deter this guy from housing a Dovii in such a small tank, then i will.

*Buttikoferi, and DD is right

Get a solid 14" so no better than a Midas.. Actually if he could find a real F0 red devil that would be the the fish to get, they get a little smaller than a midas. Or the texas.
