I would go with something like an Istlanum, a Red Devil or Midas in my opinon need at least 75 gallons.

I'm pretty sure full blood(no petsmart/lfs mix) devils only get 10-12".. can correct me if I'm wrong though. Something I thought I saw a while back.

I agree on that general size but I have seen a few spectacular 14-15" specimens. A 10" fish in my own personal taste is 2-3" to big for a 55 gallon.
