Seeing as I just read through 11 pages of this thread, I have to chime in. If you're going to argue that this tank is wrong because it does not match personality/behavioral/whateverthehell-al habits in the wild, then you should be arguing against anyone on these forums keeping fish AT ALL. People keep fish because they like the fish. Most of the time they can manipulate these fish to be whatever they want, whether it be aggressive, docile, solitary, whatever. You can't possibly have a proper sized tank to recreate the natural habitat of any fish. If a fish is getting harassed in the wild it swims away. If a fish is getting harassed in a tank it swims until it hits glass. You can have your opinions, but think deeper about what your disagreeing with before you start reeming people for their personal likings. :chillpill:

How does that make any sense at all. Most keepers, keep these fish due to their aggressive nature. If you are going to overcrowd them to drown out their aggression, then whats the point in keeping them? Thats my opinion, as I stated earlier, I couldn't care less about how everyone else keeps them. I don't agree with overcrowding to drown out aggression and I will post my disagreement, I have that right. I am not tell him how to keep his fish.

Well you're the only one not understanding it. MOST KEEPERS= 50% or more, it doesn't mean ALL or EVERYONE. I would love to keep devils, because I THINK they're a beautiful fish. The only reason I don't is because I can't come up with a way to make them work with my other fish. He has figured out a way to keep multiples. Let him have it. I've watched the vids and seen the pics, they all look healthy and happy. By the way, something I meant to put in my last post.....NICE TANK! I LOVE IT!....that, by the way, means I'm not in the 50% or more group of keepers.......

I don't think he figured out anything. I think he bought 8 red devils and it just so happens he stumbled upon the the fact that overcrowding reduces aggression in cichlids. And after most of his posts, he doesn't care about his fish, they are replacable.

they get both. i give them feeders about once or twice a month. if they cant deal with a lil shiner and the disease he carrys. i guess ill have to get new fish... but rock has first dibs on their roomier tank if they croke.

:shakehead:thumbsup:

Well, at first I thought the same, but then I kind of picked up some of the sarcasm in it. He did say he was willing to go bigger if required, or get rid of some of the fish. That's what happens everyday on these forums. For now it works though, so I don't see how that can be held against him.

I am pretty sure I never said it wouldn't work...

I don't care for overcrowding, I personally won't do it just to have them. I, myself like natural tanks that resemble their habitats in the wild.

:wall: .......I'm done.....

I love it.. theres times when you have to change and rearange fish but when it works it works.. just like when i had my huge pacus with my african cichlid and now i have my Oscar with my red devil.. their buddies.. as long as people keep a watchful eye that a fish is not stressing and remove it before it becomes a victim i think there are alot of situations when fish surprise us..and some of the experts..
