chikiti china the chinese chicken
im in a situation and i dont know if i should pull the plug on him or just wait it out to see if he pulls through

i bought a kelberi about 9 inches in length. acclimate and threw him in the tank. my orinos are in breeding stance/mode so they were very territorial, so when i put the kelb in the tank he was doing fine, until one day i came home and his tail was damage and skin from the tail portion where it connects to the body was removed, but no meat is showing. i found him sucked in by my fx5 filter, but he was still breathing so i decided to remove it and threw it in my sump. he can swim correctly if you put him that way, but i think his tail is damage to the point where he doesnt have strength to keep him swimming correctly and just flips over. and breaths. hes been in the sump for about 4 days already. still breathing still kicking just not swimming. i want to move him out of the sump and into a 40 gallon tank for salt treatment.

inputs please

Take a picture, lets see how bad it really is. I would never give up! Get him out of that sump, into his own tank and start nursing that kelberi back to health. Water changes and lots of food and the kelberi should be back in business.

Agreed.

As long as it can hold itself upright you should be good to give it a try atleast. If it is upside down, thats bad news. Never seen a fish recover from not being able to atleast hold itself upright.

Don't give up on him, but before you do, i'll adopt him if you want............

just moved him to a 40 gallon filled with water from the 265. salt and aeration is going on and a heater to help fight off any other diseases.

here is a picture of the kelb, tail got worse over the course of time.
