to set the record straight...

With proper care a jardini could reach 30". IMO a 30" jardini will not do well in that 24" tank. The 180g would probably be good for a long time though.

to be technical you can keep jardini in a 55 gallon for life.... but iw ould sudjest a min of 30" deep tank...

I've seen a 24" Arowana successfully turn around in a 40 gallon breeder. That doesn't mean it can be kept in there for life. It would be horribly cramped and subject to a ridiculous amount of waste poisoning. I'd say a 24" wide tank for a Jardini, and at least 6 feet long, and much better would be 24" deep x 8 feet.

could you explain to me how a 8'x2' is better than a 6'x2'??? its really the same tank just added water volume witch doesnt help a large fish....

2ft fish gets 1 body length more before turning around in an 8ft rather than a 6ft.. Think of it in a simpler way.. :)

its the same foot print though doesnt matter 2' fish turning around in 2' tank... now 6'x30" or a 8'x30" is the min a 24" fish needs...

I don't follow Nic.. I thought you were asking difference between 8x2 and 6x2.. Are you just saying both 8x2 and 6x2 are unacceptable no matter length?

Equally un exceptable...Yes, that is what I gather. I have 2ft wide tanks, but feel it is not big enough for aros or whatever, BUT we all know it is a prerogative thing...I think a jar in a 180 for LIFE is better than most....
