To starve ... Or not?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
My ornates won't touch the sinking massivore pellets that I just started feeding about a week ago. The endli's are the only ones that will. I think thats just cause the endlis are still pretty much juvies and the ornates are used to eating shrimp and tilapia. But who knows, I guess I can let them be picky.

starving for one week, wont stunt them. starving for a month may. you know hat im sayin?

but in terms of getting it to eat massivs and sinkings hikari. which by the way, fattens the f***k out of them, wow
my ornate eats a few massivs and gets fat.

what you do is this, what do they eat now?
shrimp? beef? fish?
get the juice of the current food - soak the pellets in there, and feed that nightly, while lights are out.
then eventually take out the juice factor. it will eat it eventually, i have never heard of bichirs not taking pellets or sinkings.

then after that mix up the diet.

my bichirs 1albino sen, 4 dels 1 ornate, eat a mix of shrimp, massivore, sinking carnivore and beef heart!

just wait a week without feeding. works for me all the time. or if a few of your polys take it, just feed regularly and the other ones will catch on.

peace be upon you guys...

I don't know if it's just my observation. Among all my polypterus fish, only my senegalus can't take in pellets. All they do is gulp it and spit it out. I even tried breaking it to pieces and they still do the same... My juvi delz can still take it like a pro. I have a feeling sens have weak set of teeth!!

I just use sinking cichlid pellets.

doesn't matter how many bio-media do you have, As long as there are waste, ammonia will be present. It's best to control the feeding, not over feed them.
Thanks for that helpful bit :screwy: I don't overfeed.

Thanks guys they are starving currently... Feel kinda bad.
