To starve ... Or not?

try my marinating method before u starve them...starving them should be the last resort.

starving them isn't bad for them.. its bad for us...lol

you can starve a fat healthy bichir for months without it dieing. i don't know about years lol:screwy:

lol I did not take his comment literally. I don't think he meant years for real he was just trying to illustrate a point that a week or month is not a huge deal. Ive been tucking the pellets inside the silver sides mouths now.... Next will be marinating. I think I gotta switch from gravel to bare bottom im worried about them eating some gravel or injuring their long nostril things. And its easier for them to see food and grab it on a bare bottom tank.

lol well.. it wasn't clear if he really meant years or not.. i cant tell someones ''tone'' over the internet. people who are new to Bichirs may have thought it to be true. when it comes to giving information on the internet sarcasm and ''tone'' should be kept at a minimal IMO; less miscommunication and problems resulting in miscommunication will be the result.:D

anyways, try the stuffing method if u want but bichirs tend to death roll their food if its too big to fit in their mouths. result will be the pellet dislodging from the silverside. if the bichir can fit the piece of silverside + the pellet in its mouth ur good! if u wish to rid yourself of gravel why not try a light bed of sand?
