Alex I love the look of the peachthroat in the second link!

It looks male unfortunatley, as I agree with you...it does look very nice.

well after doing some searching while i was at work. and as of right now i am going to go with a Mangrove. now time to start reading up:nilly:

anyone know of any good sites i can go to that has good pics of enclosure setups?

If you get more then one mangrove, get them from the same source. There are several locales. Get some nice blue-tailed manies, or some blue-tailed monitors(these are different species). Peachthroats are by far my favorite medium indo monitor.

im probably only going to with a single monitor.. right now its down between either a mangrove or a peachthroat.. but im still going to do some looking around. i probably wont be buying until mid may or early june

These are my 1.1 mangroves, they are an island locale that stay much smaller than mainland indicus who can reach 6 foot, these are yearlings barely 3foot for the male and about 2 1/1 for the female.

Amazin critters:headbang2I also like, besides all of the species you guys mencioned, the good old savs. I know they are kind of old school but still great pets:D

well this little project has come to a hault. when i was doing some research it turns out that monitors are illegal to own in my state:WTF: so now i have to come up with a new idea. im not sure if i still want to go with a large enclosure or if i want to keep the room the way it is but also set up a free roaming area for the iguana in the sitting room which has a tv and a couch:confused: and build a smaller cage to use as a coffee table and put a smaller reptile in it?

Wow, sorry to hear about that. What state doesn’t allow Varanids if you don't mind me asking? What about a Tegu if you can't keep a monitor?

You read my mind:naughty:

massachusetts.. it really doesnt shock me a bit. everything is illegal here..

as far as a tegu they are legal. i have thought about it. im not sure if i have enough room. for a full grown tegu i wouldnt want to go any less than 8x3x3 and i just dont have that for space currently..

so now im in a bind. and im not sure what im going to do
