If you google "pit bull" or "American Pit Bull Terrier" most of the dogs who pop up aren't even pit bulls, but American Bullies and other breeds, so people's ignorance is understandable..

Pretty much ANY dog at a shelter that is a LabX has pit in it.

I don't have any "mistaken identity" pics of my own, but I can share a picture of an "ideal" pitbull in size and weight. (not those short and wide monstrosities)

Maverick -- he was under 2y in this pic, so his head is a little more butthead-like now

He's about 42lbs, neutered, a red nose red brindle named Maverick.
I adopted him, but I have had many people reaffirm my initial beliefs that he is the ideal, conforming APBT size, shape, and weight.
