i'm guessing since their aquamojo's fish, they probably look as stunning in person as they do over the net.

That male Managuense gets better looking every time I see him.I think you have another star on your hands. His colors are just so pleasing to the eyes. The only thing I can say about the Zonatum is that I wish he was mine:)

I was just telling someone else here on the site that I have a couple of Managuense in the pond (his brothers) that are not only enormous12-13"...but I think might make this one look like a goldfish. From what I can see from looking down at them in the pond, they have a VERY intense blue coloration across the top and fins. But more importantly is that they are MUCH larger...more mature beauty. I have to get one in particular out to photograph...once I can get some tank space.

Good question. I think the flash's really make the colors pop. You can see the blues and yellows very well in person....but you don't see those iridescent shean that you do in the photos. It's sort of like reflection off armor. One of the interesting things I've learned is that when you use a flash in the photo you have to be particularly concerned about the other objects in the tank.

A photo is simply a recording of reflected light. It stands to reason if you have a white pot or lighter colored tank ornament when the flash goes off it will reflect off that object and affect the color of the subject. Not so bad for wood and other neutral colors...but the clay posts I use can pose a problem. So long answer to a short question...the fish look good in the tank. I just go out of my way to photograph thm in the best available light.

Thanks.

Through The Lens metering surely made up for the amount of light that was (or wasn't) available when you shot the picture, but it looks like the placement of the auxiliary strobe(s) made the pic stand out. Nice shots man.

Yeah...I was surprised at the TTL doing a better job. The few times I played with the manual output of the camera flash I invariably used too much light. I just assumed letting it up to the camera would give the same effect. Positioning the light underneath is tricky. Actually there's a LOT less light coming out of the bottom flash...it's set to -3.0.

The Mt. Dew bottle just popped into my head...figured, what the hell. I have gels for the flash, but the bottle gave me some unique diffusion. If you look at the bottom of a two liter bottle you'll see that it's not flat...but has four rounded corners. Very cool. I'm looking for a red bottle now. LOL Maybe Tupperware.

I think I like the colors on these manny the best of any that I've seen. Mine are colored very similar to your jumbo. These seem to have a lot more gold sheen to them. Beautiful fish.

I agree about the flash and colors. The flash just brings out the colors that you can't ordinarily see with the aquarium light. The colors are there you just can't always see it.
