Today was my first time fishing!

congrats on the bass man that's a great first one, and yeah when you said sharp fins knew you were catching bream/sunfish haha. as far as bass fishing depending on the kind of ponds/lakes you have access to will depend on the types of baits and locations you should fish. It's always good to fish cover, whether it be rock piles, stumps, weeds, etc - fish around them and fish parallel with the bank if there are any dropoffs, i would recommend watching some videos to learn the technique behind texas rigging soft plastic worms, it produces fish no matter where you are. also if you fish areas with a lot of open water/rocks i would recommend trying out some crankbaits and rattle traps, try to find out what kind of baitfish are in the places you fish to figure out the appropriate colors to use. Good luck and I hope you get hooked on fishing!!

i did catch fish i caught 7 theres one in the pic i just didnt catch the fish i was looking for lol

To me, that's the mark of a real fisherman! We go out down here in FL now and then and you will ALWAYS catch something. But I'm always impressed when we charter a fishing boat and he says something like, "We're going out for mackeral." then that's exactally what we catch and pretty much ONLY what we catch.

I always think, "How'd you do that?" :)

1/2 a nightcrawler set it down about 4-5' in 8-10 feet of water and let your bobber sit while you enjoy a soda, and chat with your other fishing buddies. this works in just about any type of situation with any-type of fish. If there are fish around you're going to catch them. and relax and enjoy the day as well.

HE thinks fishing is a waste of time?? yeah that's when you give him the ring back :irked::irked::irked: got any sisters?

haha i do catch and release and im going this weekend too i think im already hooked :) and do you guys have any tips on catching Bowfin?

your an adult..and have never fished? wow..but nice catch..

^^ its never too late to start people have different experiences growing up

as far as bowfin i'd go with spinner baits or crankbaits/rattle traps - definitely something with a good shine as far as the cranks. colors once again based off the baitfish in their environment, if you aren't confident with artificials just yet try to find a place where you can get baitfish or live crayfish to use for bait
