Toni and Nemo my albino Oscar's

Well I have been noticing that Hotlipz is getting plump again. Sure enough after today's water cange her ovapositor has poped out again and she is really bright, and chasing the RT and Catness more than normal.

Here we go a couple days of chaos till she drops them all again.

So I knew there would be a storm to come. After Juan's death when I moved the GT and RT into the 125 I knew a day would come when I would have to make a choice between the two.

Well it seems that day had come a lot sooner than I had wanted it. Hotlipz has sorta made up my mind for me. Now don't get me wrong I love them both. But having Hotlipz laying eggs every few weeks causing tons of chaos during this time won't be good for the overall health of the tank. So with a sad heart I am going to rehome her.

If any of you following this thread want her let me know, I will be putting up a post in the market for her.

Ya wish I could just get a 8x2x2 tank and not worry about it. Sadly that's not the case, I wish it was.

To bad my 55 is occupied, otherwise I would put her in there for a bit in hopes I could find a 75 or 90gal tank for her. But it's full of little fish she would eat/shred to death overnight.

So it is what it is. I did it to myself when I bought them both. I just hope a good person takes her to a nice big forever home.

It seems that the RT is going to be male. A few shots of him tonight.

It's got the spangling all over like males due. I don't know, not sure. There is some black in dorsal, anal, pelvic fins. Might be wearing weird colors being smallest cichlid in the tank. Leaning male what do you all think?

The SDs are doing great. 20180426_223114.jpg 20180426_223117.jpg

A few of Hotlipz. She is doing great. Pulled her tube back in for a bit so is calmer now a bit.20180425_132234.jpg 20180426_223318.jpg

And of course Catness Everwisker says HI!

Jexnell Jexnell , this is why so many opt for a male only cichlid tank. Sorry to hear about the problems, but she is a looker and Im sure will find a good home.

The mixed cichlid community tank sounds good in theory but Ive been through a ton of fish and slowly its dwindled down to two and Im trying to add back in... lol. never ending mess even with the 8ft 300 gallon! Cant they just get along?

DMD123 DMD123 I think I over thought it. I was thinking males would be more aggressive with wanting to set up territories and the like. Never took into consideration that females lay eggs when males are not around, and that during those times all bets are off.

My last tank was three Oscars that all got along and there was never any kind of breeding anything. Tank prior to that was African Peacocks all males.....

So I guess we live and learn. I was shooting for an all female tank. Thinking they would be less aggresive compared to males. Got that wrong. So lets hope Toni and unnamed RT stay friends. Otherwise I think I will leave just Toni in there will a crew of others like catfish, SDs a pleco maybe one of them Flagtails.

Well there seems to be no interst in Hotlipz, maybe someone will take the RT, and we can deal with Hotlipz. I will put an add up for him.

After turning on the 55gals light this morning, I was looking around and noticed one of my HRPs standing guard outside of the coconut shell. I go grab my flashlight and sure enough, they have laid a clutch of eggs inside of it, and mom was inside guarding them eggs.
