Too good of a deal to pass up?

It's your call Melissa. Tanks aren't that hard to reseal but the asking price is way too high for a damaged tank. Definitely low ball him.

Well he offered to reseal it. And there is also a broken brace. The brace is there for a reason. From what I read, the glass will bow out and bust. Water will be going on your floor.

I got for free two 55 gallon tanks with broken braces and it was a waste of time picking them up for free.

the brace repair is simple enough, all you gotta do is find a decent fish store and they can usually order you one, but that will probably run you about 30 bucks just for that piece, plus you've gotta consider in the work hours required to re-seal and then add the new trim to the top, if it were me i'd say just don't get it at all.

i wouldnt pay more that fifty.

I emailed him, stretched out the amount of work I actually need to do to it and told him I couldn't do any more than $45 for the tank. We shall see what he says.

even then i'd still hire somebody who seals tanks with a lot of experience rather than doing it myself on a 125 if the job isn't done perfect bad things will happen :S

I got a drilled 100g acrylic unaquarium with an oak canopy and stand for $125 all it needed was a little sanding and polishing to remove minor scratches. I'd say keep looking. Try the marketplace on this website there are always great deals that's where I got mine. But I would not by a tank in that condition at all unless I just wanted a project. And I would definitely not buy it for that much.

hmm thats a tough one.. i love rebuilding. thats what makes the hoy fun for me... id almost do it but lets say you get it for 40 bucks...plus 10 for the chaulk tool that evenly dist the silicone, plus 25 bucks for silicone and chaulk gun. plus a trip to the glass shop to have that piece cut to spec etc. you'd be into it 70.00+ glass...35ish?...not to mention time and gas for the materials.. for the time and price you may find a tank ready to roll for about the same or even less.. plus im sure your looking for a nice tank to have in the house.... id say its not worth it... unless you make that 125 a sump for a monster tank!!:headbang2 GL...... i have a 125 glass tank only in better condition that im going to sell for 100.... just to give you an idea what to look for in price...
