It doesn't look nearly as full as it sounds, which i guess is the danger of buying fish. They are all so small at the store that it looks like they easily fit in a 90 gallon, when in reality only a few of them can live in a 90 for life.

I completely agree, and that is the mistake i have made! Thanks again everybody for helping me out! Already taken out the following:

2x blood parrot
1x tire track (so far)
2x talapiya
4x (previously un ID'd cichlids)
1x common pleco
1x convict

I have a friend that has a very nice 250g set up that will provide a new home for one of my clown knife and one of the gars.

Sounds like you see a fish that you like and ask the employee at the store and of course they say they will go fine.
Nothing wrong with that.
What fish do you have in there that you really like?
Do you like aggressive fish?

I find that non-aggressive predators are the way to go. As long as they don't fit in one another's mouth you usually won't have any casualties.

Do you happen to have a test kit?
It's good to get one if you don't. You can determine if your filtration is enough by seeing if you have any ammonia present in the tank and also how often you have to do water changes to keep the nitrates down to an acceptable level. I'm guessing if you aren't water changing 50% every other day that they are all getting stressed from high levels of nitrates.

If it were me I'd get rid of them all except:
1 gar
1 ghost knife
1 TT eel(they don't get along with other eels)
1 pleco
But I'd trade the common in for a nice carnivorous fancy pleco like the L-014 in my avatar. They'll eat what the other fish eat, won't have stringy foot long pieces of feces hanging from them and don't grow as large as most commons.
Either way you'll have to still see about getting a larger tank.

You will find that you will enjoy the tank more if it isn't overstocked. I wasn't going to say anything, but I'm glad that you got rid of the parrot fish. They are cute little guys, but I'm not too keen on them.

Yes im really glad i made this post! Cant thank every1 enough for helping me out! fish seem much happier 2 which is what its all about! Decided to remove the parrots as they were very territorial. Im now just on the hunt for a more interesting pleco so i can swap it with my common pleco. However, im not getting my hopes up as i have never seen any other type of pleco! (only have about 5 fish shops on the island i live on!) but ill keep an eye out! Thanks again every1

your gars look more like alligator gars, which grow up to approx 5' in captivity

in the wild, even a spotted gar can reach almost 5 feet (150 cm). They won't get quite as big in a tank, but I would still find new homes for them soon.

Gators get quite a bit larger then other gars, 5' is the captive size.
