too many herps

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yep, even with designer morphs.

Not a lot of people actually want to buy some of those expensive boa morphs, let alone have the money to purchase...

Exactly, varanio. I'm just hoping to make my animals happy and maybe pay for some extra feeders if I'm lucky, thats all. A little money goes a long way... Or is supposed to anyway lol

Again, I'm not really 'investing' or anything. But with 20 $200 baby snakes, MAYBE just MAYBE I can pay for a some feeders?

And to tell you the truth, I cant stand 99% of the designer morphs, and the attitude that goes toward them digusts me. Just pretty objects to be bought and sold...

I dont plan on more than 2 or 3 more herps until college... I understand getting in over your head. My friend Beau who is a freshman (high school) had to sell almost all of his herps. His caiman (yes, a caiman) died though during a cold spell and power outage last december, and that was the only herp he really had all figured out. He had a very nice pond in his yard that was his pride and joy. He had to sell his leos, golden geckos, 5 boas, tokay, savs, some kind of swift, and a lot of his turtles. Now he has his green anaconda, dumerils boa, mangrove monitor, and beardie. Still a little too much on his plate, but he learned his lesson, unlike a certain someone... *cough*

As for me, I'm fine with what I have for now. Maybe one more snake, I'm thinkin' a carpet or rainbow boa. But whatever I get, its going to be something to breed, and hopefully provide a little money to squeeze by with. Thats the plan anyway... Sorta.

Whats your current stock Loco?

I'm not sure but I think housing the 20 200 dollar snakes might either cost more or just as much to maintain while you wait to sell the 20 snakes.

I realize that evilyardgnome. Im sure I have plenty of time to figure it out... theres no rush. And btw, I will make an effort to sell what I can beforehand. I have plenty of friends who are interested, as well as the nature center, the bio teachers, and just some guys i know in the hobby. And maybe one o' you guys too ;) And its gonna take awhile before I can figure it out 100% and get big hatch rates, I was just using the 20 baby carpets or whatever as an example. It'll probably be more like 5 IF I'm lucky.

Ok, I'm not shooting for the moon here guys, dont worry. Trust me, I'm not going in over my head. I dont have great expectations. In fact, when you lower your expectations, its harder to get dissapointed.

Oh and Jess, right now I have 2 leos, a crested, a western hognose, and a beardie. Not tryin' to breed those leos just yet, but they will eventually... Although my BIG male leo was a rescue and he acts a little funky around the ladies... Did I mention hes big?

what!?
no discount for your fellow mfker's? :grinno:

I will LC, I'm going to make a thread as soon as I find the cable for the camera. And I'll post pics of different body angles, full body shots, full tank shots, everything you could ask for, and I'll give temps and tank sizes and everything else. I'll see if you can find anything to criticize ;) I'm sure you guys will find SOMETHING! I can see it now: "Loco, wheres the UV light for your leos?! They benefit from vitamin D3 metabolization!" LOL Just kidding guys

Haha, a discount? Maybe :) Well see Jess lol
