Going back and forth with a class a retard on this one.

Situation: she's kept and oscar in a 29 gallon tank for a year until it died. Water was cloudy ALL the time, media never changed, gravel never vacuumed.
Once I told her she needed a tank of at least 75 gallons I got:
How DARE you say I killed my little Oscar? I PAMPERED him!!!!!
(Notice the very mature use of extra exclamation points and capital letters she threw in there)
She went on to explain that she comes from a not so well off family and she uses that as a license to buy fish she can't house and say its her lack of money's fault...
Sorry for the vent but this keepingfish thing has caused me more angry rants to people than I'd care to recount.....

Well there are million stories like this.. And the answer you usually get is smt like "dont tell me, i had them before and they were fine" (for 5 years instead 15).. I just turn around then because i cant do anything about their stupidity..

As much as we'd like to, we can't educate every person or save every fish. All we can do is try and help the people that are open to being helped. It's extremely frustrating at times, but it seems to be an inescapable part of this hobby of ours.

"Other People" are an inescapable part of life itself.

Don't worry yourself about other people and what they do in their lives. We cannot know how or what to do in life's gazillion possible things and events. There are at least a few things that we do ourselves, and other people might even think we are idiots for doing so.

Always remember: We are all different people, with different upbringing, morals, values, and opinions...all coming together at some point, trying to live life without breaking someone else's eggshell. She may have cracked your eggshell, but you may have also cracked some eggshells yourself just trying to do the simple things in life.
 
This is so true, but at least you said something to her. It's possible (we can hope) that the next time, she'll think about learning more.

She won't think the next time.
Exactly what she typed to me was:
"My daddy knows a shi lode about fishes so leave me alone I know what I'm doing"
So, she doesn't strike me as the person who thinks before they act... Or really thinks much at all.

Such cases remind me that maybe we hobbyist need to spread awareness about the el cheapo Hamburg matten filter around, that surely fits the budget And i am sure budget is everybodys concern nowadays, i know that lfs didn't really make any money settling HMF but , still better water quality for them fishes is really sounding very positive for me now , sorry that this almost sounds like a rant but .....

I agree, I get the same thing; best u can do is just tell them and leave the rest to God.
