Too much light?

I pulled a portion of the cabomba out this morning. It was floating. I also noticed some of the yeast/sugar mix got into the tank. The water is cloudy now. Should I do a water change?

The microsword still looks good, but nothing else seems to be taking hold. Even the sword looks like its slowly going to rot away...

There is also some moss in the tank that is randomly attaching to some of the plants. I tried to remove it, but some strands are so small I can't get them all. Will a healthy plant just out compete the moss or is the moss going to take over?

It couldn't hurt to do a water change. I've had plants in the past that almost completely rot away then somehow make it back to full strength once their root systems are in place. Also, moss is pretty slow growing, it probably won't take over your tank.

Thanks for the reply. I pulled out a good portion of the cabomba, and some of the java fern. The yeast/sugar mix has taken the form of a white slimy goop, and it was covering some of the plants. I did a water change.

I am hoping the plants can make it through the slime. Most of them are covered in it.

next time with the DIY CO2 put a gas exchange/ bubble counter in line of the tube goign into the tank take a look @ this thread:
http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=304437&highlight=diy+co2

kjfan1 has a couple of good videos linked in the first few pages he got me started and i MGoerke have some pics of my recently started DIY CO2. u can see the bubble counters/gas exchange bottles we both made. i think kjfan1 has a video on making one. it pushes the co2 threw a jug of water before the tank so if anything gets into water its just that not the tank. also maybe the reactor is too full, everyone says 2-3" of dead air space between mix & air hose.

I have also heard that a lit of times a plant will majorly die back when planted into a new tank & then re grow better suiting that tank. How long are your lights on?
