TOP 10 MOST AGGRESIVE CICHLIDS

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
if oscars are i9n here then sevs should be too i guess as mine always hammer my oscar who have had to move into another tank. Personaly in a top 10 lit neither sev or oscar should be in here.

what is the definition of aggressive?

best fighter? or most territorial?

size has A LOT to do with it also. the bigger the fish, the more likely it is going to win a turf battle.

if we are talking about adult fish, less bulky and smaller size fish such as severums, red devils, jack dempseys dont stand a chance against the monsters such as midas and dovi.

just sayin.

You didn't hurt my feelings.Anyways This is from my experience of keeping cichlids long enough to know what goes on.Yes my Severum prefers to mind its own business, but it will get into fights with the ones I have listed.I have tried to bring in another Oscar that was full grown into my tank, cause my brother decided its cool to have 3 oscars in a 55 gallon, that didn't work out too well,so I had to put his Oscar back into his tank, due to my 10 inch Oscar mopping the floor with his Oscar.

Good, glad to hear your not upset. Now let's have a civilized convo.

Can you show 100% proof that everyone's Oscars just chase a fish to get to the food first? The only good valid point you have only made on this comment was telling this guy to go buy the top ten aggressive fishes we have all listed and see who is left into the tank.

Your basing your conclusion only from your limited experience. Just because your oscar beat up your brother's oscar doesn't put them on the top ten most aggressive cichlid list. If I put a couple of angel fish in a tank together and one beat up the other, should I then go to a public fish forum and preach that angel fish are one of the most aggressive fish so watch out for them?

At any given moment you might catch a cichlid acting like a cichlid, but Oscars and Severum are far from the top.

I have said this in the past, not only has my Oscar beaten up 2 of his Oscars, but I use to have a 7 inch Jaguar with my Oscar and my Oscar beat the living crap out of it.Which is odd that a Jaguar should be doing that instead. All fishes have their own aggression levels, people apparently don't get it then, that all cichlids are different from each other with personality. You may have the MOST top aggressive cichlid like a Midas and he or she could be the wuss of the tank. Its pretty funny how people are bashing my opinion, yet I have not bash anyones opinions on their top ten.I will have to remember to be a prick in the near future about bashing others top ten most aggressive cichlids then. Also I will make sure to be like everyone else and put the same EXACT cichlids of being aggressive in the near future as well.

I think the disagreements come because some are taking this list as a personal attack on their stock and past experiences. I think the most aggressive cichlids are the ones that have shown the highest probability of being aggressive through the observations of many fish keepers over many years. All types of cichlids will show some signs of aggression. But there are some species that are widely known to be aggressive and/or highly intolerant of tankmates. IMO that doesn't mean that every cichlid that bites or chases another fish deserves to be on the most aggressive list. There might need to be a thread about "The Most Aggressive fish that YOU have kept." I'm sure there are as many of those threads as there are of threads like this one though.

Here, since most people are throwing a hissy fit about my list, since I was going by what experience I have seen with these cichlids in the FIRST place.

Dovii
Jaguar
Midas
flowerhorn
trimac
black belt
buttikoferi
Texas
festae
umbee
