Lol even more of a monster fish keeper if you offer the same line in everyone just to bump your post count

I could see why you would think that, but I was doing nothing of the sort. Just posted to have some good fun. I think it is really impolite to blindly leap to judgments and leave snide comments in someone's thread; people are usually better than that here.

Those are hysterical.

My homepage is MFK (on this browser), recently my camera is full of stingray pictures, I have invited someone over to see the arowana demolish waxworms, and I've also been contemplating the cost of a moving truck to get huge tanks from craigslist. :headbang2

Ive did most but Im a...MONSTER TURTLE KEEPER:FIREdevil

I used to keep quite a few turtles when I was a kid (before I knew about the need for frequent water changes :irked:) and I've been wanting to get into it again.

Is it practical to just go out and catch them (like I used to), or do they usually come with parasites or sicknesses or something? I've already bought a 40 gallon tank specifically cut for turtles with a slot for a hang-on filter, but I was wondering if I could get one on the cheap from a river or if it really is beneficial to cough up to dough to buy from the LFS?

I thought I had problems doing water changes on my 125... I can't imagine what it is going to be like when I set up the 360 and finish building the 450. I can only fantasize about warning the woman of the house:

"Babe, you're going to have to wake up earlier to take showers; I don't know what else to tell you."

First of you need to know if its even legal to cach one;) Its however allmost allways better to buy a captive breed one. Its not many turts you can fit in a 40 gallon for life. Musks, muds and male maps are your best shot. Also do your reserch before you do anything like you would in any animal.
