So I'm contemplating a tank concept (not in the immediate) future and I was wondering if anyone has tried it.

I am thinking about keeping aggressive bottom dwellers with peaceful / community top fish. To do this I was thinking about using dividers to make a top / bottom split on the aquarium.

Anyone tried anything like this? Pictures??

How would you add or remove any fish from the lower level? Or clean that section? Or feed those fish?

It's a very different idea but I don't think it is practical.

You could try some form of netting or mesh to separate them but poop would collect and u would have flow and filter issue for what ever is opposite side of the divide

I've often thought about dividing a tank horizontally. I have yet to come up with a way to overcome the problem of accessibility to the bottom half. Going to keep an eye on this thread!

You can use the upside down aquarium concept. Where the have another aquarium over the top and siphon out the air with a pump. Then just but a acrylic divider with holes. Or what about do a bridge between two tanks with the bridge extending down to the bottom of the tank. So your peaceful can swim in the tank but be protected

Or just make your sump your second display.....

Still a build in progress, but the bottom will be planted and stocked. Pump on one side, sock on the other. Plumbing will go in and out the sides of the 135 on top ....
