Top Ten Reasons You Cant Trust Vicious Pit Bulls

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
To you pitt owners I don't understand how you guys can trust your dogs! I mean, don't you guys read the news about how they go insane and kill children? They are banned in some states for a reason...so the question is why raise this particular breed?

For everyone posting, Whether you're pro or con on pitts, please back up any statements made with supporting articles/studies. At this point, personal opinions, while valid, are adding nothing to this thread and subject matter.

The problem is that most people don't respect the breed at all. Why else do you think pit bulls has such a bad reputation? It's because people abuse them and breed them to have qualities that are not fit to be household pets for the majority of people. Most people can't even take care of a fish let alone a powerful and potentially dangerous animal like a pit bull. Most people just want a pit bull for their looks and be cool because a neighbor has one or because it's the in thing to do. And at the same time they don't understand what it takes to actually take care of one. People forget that these dogs were bred with a purpose in mind and the reason why they have the name pitbulls. Also just because your particular dog loves you and cares for you doesn't mean it will do the same for another person or another dog or another animal. Or maybe you dog will not harm other people but that doesn't mean your neighbor's pitbull will do the same. If you have a pit bull or any dog for that matter go to training classes and actually learn how to control your dogs. Also spay or neuter your dogs because it does help a great deal in controlling their behaviors.

I normally stay out of these discussions but after witnessing firsthand a
Pittbull
attack on my friends dog I will have to disagree. Sadly the owner of the Pitt was also a friend who is not a bad owner in my eyes.
Everytime
I saw the dog he was a big sour puss and very friendly. He got out of his yard one day and just decided that it would be fun to run down the street and tear up the neighbors dog, to DEATH. And no the dog did not provoke the
pitt
, she was on a tie out taking a crap minding her own business.

I read the horror stories in the paper about a Pitt getting out of hand and mauling a small child and a lot of times I will read in the story. Paraphrase "I don't know what happened, he was such a nice dog, we raised him well, he always did well with children, and etc....."

Pitt Bulls were "bred" to be fighting dogs. It's in their blood and there is nothing you can do to change that. I'll totally agree that proper upbringing will help to alleviate problems but there is absolutely nothing in the world you can do to stop a
pittbull
from having a bad day and tearing the **** out of something or someone. And you never know what the trigger may be or when it may happen if ever. You can bet your butt though that every
pitt
is "capable" of it though, it's what they were bred to do.

There are tons of
pitt
owners who will never have a problem. Those owners are the lucky ones.

Slame
me, bash me, hammer me, flame me, I don't care. Those are the facts Jack

It is the media that brainwashes experienced people in to thinking that pits are more dangerous than other capable breeds. Unfortunately the media likes to classify most dog attacks as pit bull attacks regardless of the breed. Pit bulls have nothing in there blood that make them more dangerous than GSDs, rotties, bull-mastiff or many others. Just because they have been breed to fight means ****. A lot of breeds have been breed to fight or bull bait or guardian but the en vogue dog to bash is the Pit. In ten years it will be another.

Yea...the media is the problem with pit bulls. The only problem with Pit Bulls are..Pit Bulls, and those who own them. You guys like to blame everyone for the Pit problem but the dog. And it doing so, you are convincing nobody but yourselves. The dog is statisically a dangerous breed that causes more fatalities than any other breed. End of story.

Please look at the following study carried out in late 2006. Referred to as the Clifton report. The numbers are taken by press reported incidents of Fatalities and Maimings. It is written from a legal point of view. Please read the beginning. Look at the stats. then read the conclusions at the end. It supports the CDC stats from the late 90's. Owners should find it interesting to find out what the thinking is behind increased insurance premiums and why some shelters are beginning not to except Pits for placement.

"Pit bulls seem to differ behaviorally from other dogs in having far less inhibition about attacking people who are larger than they are. They are also notorious for attacking
seemingly without warning.."
