its pointless trying to tell someone that there not killers. the only way to do it is if they get one a see for themselves

so true,I was scared when I met these babies, the one sleeping with the cat doesnt even hurt the pet mice.she and the other female mothered 5 kittens.

I saw the same dog I spoke of snuggled with my friends 10 year old kid. Like I said a lot of owers will NEVER have a problem. Those are the lucky ones. I hope you are one of those lucky ones.

Are you really that ignorant? They were BRED to be killers. Back in the day when this breed was being developed it was developed for ONE SINGLE purpose. To kill.

bettagurl, are you ignoring my last comment because the truth hurts?

Again I really like these dogs and when I have the chance I will own one or more one day. Im just realistic. I currently live in an apt with many dogs around and have a young one on the way and I simply cant take the chance with an animal like that. Im not naive.

out of the thousands of dog attacks there are only a few pitt attacks a year.
its all how they are raised.

My god. Reading what you write is making me laugh...out loud. You really see the world as a rosy picture for pits no matter what firm info you make up.

Where do you get a few pitt attacks a year? There are a few pit attacks a week in the US?

"bettagurl ". well what do you know,no pitt bulls!"
Many cities ban pit bulls and so does Ontario. Not because they are sweet dogs. You have a disproportionate record of serious dog attack from a single breed that makes up a small proportion of the total number of dogs. What is the reason Bettagurl? Data. Don't make up facts or tell us about how sweet your four pit bulls are. I'm sure your neighbors are thrilled to have somone with four pit bulls living next door.

"In a study by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control of more than 300 dog-bite fatalities from 1979 through 1998, pit bulls or cross-bred pit bulls caused almost a third of 238 fatalities in which a breed was specified.
"

"Studies indicate that pit bull-type dogs were involved in approximately a third of human DBRF (i.e., dog bite related fatalities) reported during the 12-year period from 1981 through 1992, and Rottweilers were responsible for about half of human DBRF reported during the 4 years from 1993 through 1996....[T]he data indicate that Rottweilers and pit bull-type dogs accounted for 67% of human DBRF in the United States between 1997 and 1998. It is extremely unlikely that they accounted for anywhere near 60% of dogs in the United States during that same period and, thus, there appears to be a breed-specific problem with fatalities." (Sacks JJ, Sinclair L, Gilchrist J, Golab GC, Lockwood R. Breeds of dogs involved in fatal human attacks in the United States between 1979 and 1998. JAVMA 2000;217:836-840.) "

These stats are older.. The ownership of Pit Bulls has grown and so have the numbers.

I'm not saying don't buy one or love one or own one. And it's not directed at you. Just don't make up crap and dance about saying "yea, but look how sweet my dogs are."

Probably should have read the article before commenting. Pitts are already banned in the region this report was made. The article concerns adding to the banned species list:

Only a small percentage of dogs attack anyone

By Marjorie Darby, Toronto
The Hamilton Spectator
(Jan 6, 2007)

Re: 'Extend pit bull ban'; Letters, Jan. 5

This writer suggests more breeds need to be added to the banned list. This is a common sentiment amongst those not familiar with the facts of dog biting incidents, or factors common to unprovoked dog bites.
