Go with a Bristlenose. They are hard workers and stay small.

Quite sensitive probably not recommended.

Could you please tell us what sort of fish you are into and it would help us give you recommendations that you can research

I really like American rainforest fish, cichlids and the like and also Thai/ southeast Asian species.

Panchax killifish may work.

If you want a nice combo from Asia, rosy barbs come from India and paradise fish are found throughout Asia. Tough and pretty fish

I have the combo in a 15 gallon and it's very much fun. They beg for food too

That's a good idea for sure! I'm not in the US but have heard nothing good about those stores. Fish really aint good there
