4 here.. One of them is a 1" FH
Sorry I didn't read through the thread but was wondering what happened to your FH? Any pics before it passed?

Sigh...my Pumpkin, he lost his battle with gill disease. If you look on my profile, I have an album with his progress pictures.

Tell me about it, Jordy. :(

He's always had gill issues that I could never get rid of. Like he already came to me with a bit of gill curl...
Gil Curl happend when tank water had huge ammonia for long time, also gil curl can be cure if you take the fish out and cut the curl part out and let it heal during this time water should be extremely clean and high current also help or prevent gil curl on some fishes.

I strongly object on cutting/operating on a fish unless the person has experience and knows what he/she is doing..
The probability of the fish ending up looking "better" isn't something that should be taken lightly especially if the procedure went wrong and the fish ended up getting worse than before..

Trust me, in the whole year and half I had him, my water never had any ammonia. Anyone who knows me knows that I'm OCD when it comes to water changes. I change my water more than necessary and test my parameters religiously.

I was told gill curl with FH is quite common and is the result of breeding, interbreeding and what not. I would never let my Pumpkin stew in his own waste. :)

I agree.

I wouldn't want to subject my fish to undue stress just to perform cosmetic surgery.
