training baby aros to eat food sticks

Offer nothing but pellets and after a few days it should change its mind. Once its set on pellets try feeding pellets in the morning and prawn at night, and as soon as it starts turning its nose up at the pellets don't feed prawn for a few days. Thats what I do with my green and it eats like a pig, you can't spoil them, and IMO offering "treats" are a waste of time and will just help make the fish fussy.

So just wondering Brian, would you "starve your Aro" up to 2 weeks, even if it doesn't eat pellets? Remember this is a juvenile not 1 yr +.

starved him a bit, 3 days max and soak the foodstick in the water untill it soften, then feed him, hopefully he'll eat it. i've done this for my super red

Still not eating pellets, wont even swim up to it anymore. I think it's still too small to starve for too long however i did manage to get it to eat MP (took around 3 days). I feed it cut up MP in the morning and mealworms at night.

I will wait unti he can eat whole prawns and stuff it with pellets (worked wonders for my silver aro), i'm also gutloading the mealworms with Arowana sticks.

Again thanks for your suggestions they were all taken into account.

IMO, biting and spiting is a good thing to determine wether your aro will be interested to it or not :) but try and try but just don't overdo it or it might cause some stress to your aro :) anyway GL
