Happens to all of us. I had a 2" Peacock Bass that I was growing out eat 3 Redline Sharks. What makes it worse is that I didn't figure where they were going until the third one.

I had 3 Orinos and a Chinese Perch all in the same tank. I was never able to get the Perch off of live food. One day I saw it looking at the smaller Orino the wrong way. I figured it was too big for it to eat and it would be fine. It went for it once, but I was able to catch it in time. The Perch didn't go after it for the next couple of week. Later on, I saw 2 Orinos and a missing Perch and Orino...I found the last bit of the tail sticking out of my Chinese Perch's mouth which was hiding behind a rock. I should've known better after the first attack:irked:...DOH!

Ouch that sucks Benzjamin and ewurm. I haven't experienced a loss just yet to a eating loss, but I did have a close call. A bigger Cichla 1 of the L.A. boy's went after my Rapps 2nd batch Kelberi on the first day he hit the tank. I put him in the tank and my hand followed him in immediatly to stop the Mono from getting the Kelberi in his mouth. My heart shook when I seen him go for him. Since then I try to keep a closer eye on things because that was close enough for me.

I did loose one of the 3 L.A. boy's and am still bummed about it. He was the nicest of the 3. I was filling the tank back up and had filled the other tank's up already and was not thinking at all. I filled up the 55g they were in and didn't realize I was putting cold water into the tank because I used up all the hot water. :WHOA: The next day I had an ich out break and lost the biggest and the prettiest of the 3. I did it again with my Pike tank recently and felt like an idiot again but didn't loose anything on this brain fart. Now I try not to fill up any Cichla tanks last and make sure that I have hot water in the hot water heater. :grinno:

I always stare at my digital thermometer when I fill and make sure it is within 1 degree F.

Man those were the days...back when stuff was REALLY rare. Those "temoculus" boys turned out to be, well, temensis x monoculus hybrids just as I thought :) Oh, and a lot of people had difficulty keeping them alive. Hey, remember they all had jet black tails? They were neat looking hybrids when small. Ahhhh, memories :)

That's bigger than most got theirs to...including me. If I recall correctly mine were around 4 inches or so when they stopped eating and just wasted away.
