Trimac question

i did 90% weekly on my tank never had a trimac do that. do you use dechlorinator ? after a water change my fish always look there best. my trimacs color got insane his breast would be almost neon pike puplely

90% in spurts right? Cause if you did a 90% water change at one time that would be crazy.

I've never been able to keep a grown male Midas/Devil with any other cichlids. In some cases not even with other fish. I have attempted it in 180 and 125g tanks.

You know I thought about last night and even in spurts 90% is kind of overdoing it. I mean your pretty much almost completely changing your water.

That is the point. All of my tanks get weekly 90% water changes. My fish brighten up, and feed, during these water changes.

Yeah but aren't you removing a lot of the beneficial bacteria in your tank?

So you are saying that as you are changing the water you feed your fish? I always wait a day or two after I clean my tank (as far as feeding them)

feed my fish every day water change or not, no you dont kill all the Bacteria but you do remove tons of wast,most of your bacteria is in the filters any way. alot of the time with cichlids big w/c will trigger spawning

Interesting! I guess we all in our own ways are successful-I don't necessarily think you are wrong-just something I wouldn't do-but if you see it works and your fish are happy that is all that matters.

Mmm every LFS ive asked said do 25-30% weekly (I do gravel clean weekly - do ext canister once every 6 weeks and not after/near a gravel clean)
Should I be doing more? :/
