I got mine from Gage at Cichlid Connection. He has confirmed that he is from wild caught parents, and I have no reason to doubt him.

He does have outstanding color, but maybe that's due to genetics, 2x50% water changes per week and good food?

What makes you say that and if you are so sure what makes them not look like pure trimacs,i have seen hundreds of pics that look like them same colors and body shapes,also they were purchased from jeff rapps,so i guess you are saying he is misleading folks,that means everyone on mfk that has a trimac from jeff does not have pure trimacs,and there are quite a few people on here that have this same line of trimacs. Funny how you never questioned them.

btw there are several trimacs on this thread that look like mine and are from the same line and source. Are they pure trimacs? As i have said before funny how you never questioned them. Any way keep the pics coming guys and lets keep this thread going, nice thread so far on a very under rated cichlid.

You want me to elaborate? Aquanero's has a strange shaped head and the red patch behind the operculum extends higher than any I have seen; I thought it might be an odd looking trimac, but after seeing your trimac (its offspring) it leads me to believe it isn't pure because yours has odd colors. I have a trimac from Jeff Rapps. A little skepticism is a good thing don't take it so personally.

I'm not getting into the argument that you guys are having, but I just want to understand the Trimacs lineage and sources. Does Rapps sell fry from different pairs of Trimacs? That must be the case if some of these pictured in this thread are not really Trimacs. If one person has true Trimacs from Rapps, wouldn't everyone else also have true Trimacs? I just find it odd that Rapps would have pairs of Trimacs and pairs of FH and sell them all as Bonafide Trimacs. So either everyone has Trimacs from Rapps or everyone has really nice FH. I don't understand. Again, I'm not getting into the argument. I think you all know what you paid for. But I initially read this thread to learn more about Trimacs and see some great photos because I will be getting some soon. Now, everything is all twisted up with opposing hypothesis and facts.

Gruffmaster don't get discouraged,If your source is reputable(which i am sure rapps is)then there is no need to worry. I know where mine came from. There is a certain group of folks on here that just like to disagree,no matter how pure or how nice your fish are someone will always dislike them(you cant please everyone) Everyone is entilted to their opinion and i do respect his opinion,since he is questioning a certain vendors fish it is best to do your own research. But one thing i can say is that trimacs are a great fish to keep.

BUT you keep saying it is a hybrid , so it does kind of sound like thats what your saying ...

Great looking trimac btw, how old is he now ? These fish are so underated ... one day I will have enough tank space to own a pair of these great fish!

If your trimac and the other is Indeed from Rapps then they're deformed. Did you order your fish from TUIC personally? Email this thread to Jeff. I'd be shocked if he would vouch for these fish. And equally as shocked if this was his stock.

I understand. Thanks for clearing things up and helping me out. I am excited about having some growouts soon. They are coming from a reputable source that you know. Ok, enough talk...more pictures. Bring on the Trimacs!
