Trimac Update:

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Nice looking fish. Do you have any pics from when you first got it? I am curious as to what they look like at that size. We are supposed to be getting some in next month(and no, we do not need a repeat of the last Petsmart thread) and have not been able to get a straight answer from the powers that be as to what we will actually get. The giant gouramis came in and look like an over grown dwarf fire gourami, not the true monster.
Respectfully awaiting your response.
Oh what a bunch of bs. I am though looking forward to hearing about your monster as a little fish.

It's cool Bro, I'm not offended (too much). lol I guess I can see what you mean but Jeff isn't just a dealer, he's a breeder. He breeds these from adult Trimacs that he determines are of pure blood. Jeff is a true cichlid expert and until proven wrong, I'm going with his reputation on this.

GBG, that's a beautiful fish dude. That's the yellowish color variation I was talking about.

Ammerman, I 99% sure it's a male. I think it's just a shadow or illusion of the camera. He doesn't have the black blotch on his dorsal.

Caveman, how long did yours take to get to 13"? Mine is growing about an inch per month.

Bruce, he may be a little bigger than 4" but not much. I don't like to exagerate my fish size cuz then I'm full of sh*t.

Thanks all.

ya I forgot that he breeds as well, either way your fish is nice and you are gonna be screaming in terror one day when you walk in the room and he has this I didn't do it look on his face and all your fish are dead except him lol

Also with Trimacs I find like most fish the colours change dramtically if its the dominant fish in the tank or stressed. I had one in a tank with an umbi both around 10 inches and the Trimac would always be dark grey washed out looking and spots not too visible due to stressed, fighting for dominance with the umbi. I removed the umbi and added 3 smaller girls and another smaller male(divided from the rest) and the colour has gone alot more yellow green and spots visible. Also struts around like his poop don't stink....

Thank you, that gives me some idea of what to look for if and when they come in.
