I have tried to eliminate black diamond out of my vocabulary lately. I just use "black ray". I like a black base and white spots, not that I wouldn't take a white based pearl or snow leopard in a heartbeat. But basically that is what I like out of rays lately, the Asian hybrids tend to be more yellowish/tan in the spot color and I don't like that so much. I also like nice and uniform big spots, not a fan of the donuts or eclipses. Just as with everything in life you pay for the name which is unfortunate, can get some BEAUTY BDxLEO's that will not fetch the price they deserve because they are not "pure". BD is like the Nike of stingrays like that, but in the end really all I know that the market is screwy enough that price is set based on the specific time you are looking at buying one. Gotta see what you can get and if you are willing to spend, basically same ray could have a much different tag on it depending who/what/where/when. Good thing and a bad thing I guess, with people breeding them at home all they have to do is start offering a few $100 off what retail is, then retail will start dropping, and then basically people will ONLY want pure BD's or nothing anymore (by that I mean no basic P13 as beautiful as it may be) unless it's cheap. Now that being said, BD really do have the nicest traits out of P13, so you certainly get your money's worth if you want a pure bloodline or your primary concern is their physical appearance, I could never blame someone for wanting what they like best and paying for it.
Even though my BD could be argued the best looking out of my group, personally I am finding I am liking my rays (one over the other) more for the personalities they have. My little female is a petite dynamo, easily dominates every other ray in the tank, and I get a kick out of that. My other female is huge and a sweetheart, wouldn't hurt anything, so I guess even though my BD male is the nicest looking I would have to say I like him the least (which is still a lot just to be clear lol).
