I can attest to their growth slowing dramatically. My trops seem to have all but stopped growing at 18". My FL gars were smaller than the trops and have outpaced the trops in growth.

Ok maybe this would be easier.......
I have 2 Florida or spotted gar I'm not exactly sure which....They are 12 and 14 inches. Growing very slow. How long am I looking at before the tropical and current gars could be housed together?

Sorry about all the questions...I just want to make sure I have a place for one of these things before I say "count me in for one." Have made this mistake too many times...lol

Should only be about 6-8 months before all the gars are the same size and the new gars all start slowing their growth rates. But, diet, temp, and water conditions will vary the time factor a bit.

Thank you VERY much Oddball.

With that being said.....

Put me down for at least one.......Maybe 2.

I've had almost all species of gar(except cuban) and i can tell you, these are the least skittish gars of all. i hand feed mine shrimp and he loves pellets too!! mine all but stopped growing at 16" too??? put me down for 2-4. thanks Sol.
