yeah, ill try to put a spay bar in too,

so heres the dimensions so far..... ok so homedepot has rolls of pond liners that you cut to any length. 12 feet wide and then for every foot long its $11-$12 so i figured since i cant have the pond 4 feet deep and four feet side (because of width of liner) i will do this

have two squares that would measure 4ft long X 4 ft wide X 2 ft deep.... and then have a "channel" going between them that would be 4 ft long X 2 ft wide X 4 ft deep.... that way during the summer, the fish can go down lower in the deep part and use the squares to turn around in.

if the liner was wider i would just do a 12ftX4ftX4ft pond but ill have to deal with my plan stated above:D

No chiller needed.

3-400 dollars is really a tight budget. Look into saving a little more and you will be a lot less stressed in the end.

dont need the pond for awhile (my temensis are 4") so i figured i would first get the liner {a little less than $200}, dig the pond (which will take for ever but hey it will keep me from buying fish for a while:D) then buy one of those box filters for a 1000 gal+ pond (found one at lfs for a little over $100), then buy tubing and then try to see if i can use a pool pump (have one) for the pond.......

i'm hoping the pump will work for a pond

What's the temp in the winter?

add a water fall the taller the better cooling it will offer. also build it so no matter what time of day it is it that a small portion of the deep end is in the shade constantly. and as for cheap filtration run a giant diy wet-dry. make it using a plastic 55 gallon drum and use pvc shavings for media they sell it at home depot and lowes, but you might be able to talk them into giving it to you free. just wash it good. and keep the filter in the shade(maybe even in a shed to hide it. if you run the piping under ground that will also aid in cooling (and keeping it warm in winter if you run them from the deep end 4-5 fet under ground. also the deeper you make the pond the more stable the temps will be.

there is an asian guy named kenny that works at the ocean floor(hate the store but kenny is a great guy with some crazy connections over in asia) and he is the fresh water god. he has a pond here in arizona and he keep and breed arowana's in his pond:eek: so talk to him and Im sure he'll point you in the right direction and listen to every single thing he tells you he knows his ****;)
