I would say no to the channel cat and the lemon cichlid (I do not know what fish you are talking about in particular).

You could go with tetras, guppies, or you could do a tank of african shell dwellers. they stay small.

^^agreed^^......shell dwellers, rams, apistolgramma's. anything that stay's small.

Lemon cichlid-Neolamprologus leleupi
It may suit fine there but only a pair can fit in it, nothing else.

What species is this pleco? Forget the channel catfish. It will eventually outgrow the tank and eat its fellow tankmates such as the neons and lemon cichlids. Try to look for blue rams, cardinal tetras, Columbian tetras, and bristlenose pleco or clown pleco (Panaque maccus).

what about a pleco to take care of algae?
I already mentioned the two in my post earlier. Add otocinclus to the list.

Don't you know all about channel catfish and now you ask about putting one in a 20? An albino is the same fish as a normal channel cat-still going to get over 18" given the space. A pair of lemons would work, or neons, but definitely not both. If you did neons, you could also do a small bottom dweller or a pleco (such as a clown or bristlenose) or otos for algae, but I really wouldn't worry about wasting bioload on a pleco in such a small tank.

algae is a job for you, not the fish. Very few species will eat algae. Amongst the few are Ancistrus (bristlenose) species and rubberlip species (that often want a cooler temp. than your average tropical set up). Buy a pleco because you want one, not because you think it's going to maintain your tank for you. More water changes/less light.

either the two cichlids, or a tetra tank.

you could put maybe a few hatchets or rams in if you want to have some bigger fish and not all tiny ones.

channel is out of the question. some synos are smaller, if you wanted to do that i guess...

i say tropical community tank or just the two cichlids, depends on if you want several fish or just a pair
