Wow, that's food for thought. My parents are considering planting apple trees on their new property. But I guess by the time they're that big they'll be someone else's problem.

Apple wood is awesome for smoking and on the BBQ... just don't use a chainsaw when you are cutting it (gets chain oil all over the wood).
My parents cut down the old apple trees a few years ago at their place. They are messy and you get tons of bees, but I miss them.
I always wanted to get a "4-in-1" tree where they graft 4 different varieties on a single tree... granny smith, red delicious, etc. all on one tree, so cool!

you can see how the branches are bending and the apples are not even ready for picking until oct.. this is why they need to come down..nowmooseman;4309525; said:
