  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I understand I can't get a trout. What native fish look like trout that I could get? What about a trout-perch?? I know jonah can get them throug "special order"

I had a few trout that i caught from a stream/ waterfall. I brought them home and rehomed them in my community tank at the time with my zebra danios and loaches. My temp was tropical temps from ranging from 76-81F and they were fine. They grew for a while and was able to live in tropical water for quite a while until one day they jumped out due to my mistakes. But it is possible without a chiller from my experience, I like to go against things and make the impossible, possible.

The reason why they jumped out of the tank because they starts to not able to cope with warm temperatures.
Quite awhile, that doesn't sounds the trout are in there long enough.

Yah, they can take higher temps for a short time but they will become stressed and die after a few weeks or less depending on the temp. I live in MN and thought of keep a trout tank in my unheated garage and putting some heaters in it to keep it from freezing but it would be too risky and then what would you do in the spring. You could rig a fridge up so you pump water through it with a radiator inside to keep it cool. I'm sure someone has done it before.

You could go with some perch, bass, and sunfish. Just save and buy a chiller if you really want some trout, you never know you could find one on craigslist for $50.
