The title is a bit misleading since most of these are char, but I think it’s ok since many of the popular “trout” in North America are char (brook trout, lake trout, bull trout).

I believe that most of these are rarely talked about because of language barriers.
Huchen (Hucho Hucho) is closer to salmon.It is also as danube salmon named.

According to the internet...which is, of course, never wrong...that is a Cyprinid. Doesn't have an adipose fin, doesn't even resemble an actual trout.

It's about as much a trout as a Red-tailed Black Shark is a shark.

This thread, as a lifelong fly fisherman, pleases me.
I’ve known about the cherry salmon, white spotted char and huchen, but not the soft mouthed. Like a bastard offspring of a whitefish and a brown trout.
There are however I believe three seperate species of hucho… the one known as Taimen are the largest to my knowledge as I’m too lazy to look into the googles and the world wide webs to confirm
