Ive seen these before in the flesh very impressive very delicate fish though needs to be moved with respect.

Are you sure..... They are some of the most rare rays in the trade, if not the most rare..

Really? Plesiotrygon come from almost every region and are offered by dozens of exporters on a regular basis? Most people don't import them because they die and are not practical in domestic aquaria. Miguel offers these at PAEX all year round.

Are you specifically speaking about the 'True Black-tailed' variety, that is supposed to stay smaller?

How do you differentiate the 2?

This one must not be black tailed type :( notice the white tail..

Must be a regionality thing? Where did those ones come from?

I am curious as to which region produces the smaller plesiotrygon, because in that 2nd pix it looks like a baby retic with a 5ft. tail!

The blacktailed antennas come from Peru and they have a small distribution area compared to Plesiotrygon iwamae.

Blacktailed antennas have a black tail and a very small mouth (only half the width as in Plesiotrygon iwamae).

Try and read my post again Miles.. ;) I said "Some of the most rare fish in the TRADE" not in the wild.. ;)

But yes, I was only speaking about the black tailed type/species.. :)

I also know that they have become cheap rays.. I wanted some form jungle2u.com but i dident like their tails.. To damaged (but its just me i guess).. But the price was only a 1/3 of a castexi..!!

Some say that the normal Plesiotrygon iwamae gets 60 cm+.. Have anyone seen them that large..?

The pic posted is form one of jungle2u´s holding tanks.. :naughty:
