Are bowfin legal where you live? Or some of the american pike species? I know they can get kinda big....it really depends what you are looking for? Since you said you have already had piranhas and they were too skittish, how about making a list of what you know you dont want...and then work from there. It's a shame snakeheads are illegal here...they look like great wet pets with all the things you potentially be looking for in a killer fish.

mangrove jacks can work but you need a decent sized tank, I love feeding mine tiger barbs its a real joy seeing a fish that big move at such speeds with the intent to kill lol.

Wont be skittish at all if anything you will become the skittish one.

Hahahaha, yeah when you gotta start pushing them away with a net so they dont attack the hose during a WC its starts to get scary.
Mangrove Jack would be pretty much the most aggressive fish i've ever seen in a tank, although i've come across a few sootys and Barred Grunters that are just ANGRY fish.
For everyone that wants to know what a Mangrove Jack is, and what you need to house it this is a friend of mines Jack. In a 9x4x2.5. Its around abouts 80-85cm now.
